Brooke's Place update on last year's grant funds

Theresa Brun, the Executive Director of Brooke’s Place, joined us at the BESTOW Annual Meeting to talk briefly about Brooke’s Place programs and the meaningful impact of BESTOW'S $40,000 grant.

Brooke's Place was privileged to receive the first Bestow grant in 2025. The funding from this grant enabled us to secure a southside location at Christ Indy United Methodist Church for ongoing support group activities for grieving children and families. We purchased program night supplies, including arts and crafts materials, grief games, storage racks, grief lending library books and other program materials. We recruited and trained new volunteer facilitators for this new program location. We also hired a full time program coordinator to assist with the expansion and contracted with a former volunteer to assist on site two nights per month. We are so excited to share that we began our southside support group nights in April of 2026 and currently have 46 individuals participating in grief support activities twice a month. That number will continue to grow as we recruit and train even more volunteers to serve the new location. Thank you SO much for helping grieving children and families feel safe and supported in their grief journey.

Collective commitment

Essential causes and projects await your generosity.

To donate annual high-dollar grants, amounting to a maximum of $100,000, to deserving nonprofit organizations in our community.

To empower 100 men to commit to an annual BESTOW contribution of $1,250 to realize the positive, program-changing potential of high-impact grants.

In 2026, BESTOW donated $120,000 to three deserving nonprofit organizations to provide critical capital to continue their missions.

How it works

The power of combined resources

One hundred men donate $1,250 and between 1 and 4 local nonprofit organizations are selected by a majority vote of BESTOW members to receive a minimum $25,000 grant or donation. There could be a year, or many, that a $100,000 grant is awarded.

For many individuals, a donation of such magnitude may surpass our financial capabilities, despite heartfelt intentions. However, by consolidating our contributions, we can enable the transformation of visionary concepts into tangible realities.

Through a collective of like-minded, philanthropic men, BESTOW makes a meaningful impact to a variety of essential service and support programs in our community.

FAQ

Donate $1,250 prior to December 31. Each individual will receive one vote for grant recipient(s). Each additional $1,000 contribution you make gives you an additional vote. Example: $3,250 donation equals 3 votes.

Combining your contribution with other men (shared membership) to total $1,250 annually is perfectly fine. The group will receive one vote and must designate the decision-maker at the time of contribution. Only the decision-maker can attend the annual vote meeting.

Both individual and shared memberships are for one calendar year. There is no long-term commitment should you decide not to give in a particular year. Just donate the next year...all good!

A portion of your donation will be utilized to cover organization costs, including tax preparation, office supplies and annual meeting expenses. There is no individual compensation to the board or any admin staff and all unused funds reserved for expenses in a given year will be moved to the BESTOW “gifting” pot for the following year.

YES! BESTOW Corp. is recognized under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. With this designation, your entire donation to BESTOW Corp. is recognized as a charitable donation and can be deducted on Schedule A of your tax return in the year of the donation. EIN: 93-3792968

At the conclusion of the presentations, the BESTOW members will be invited to vote on the organization(s) that will be awarded the grant(s) with the funds collected the prior year. All members will be provided with a summary of the grant finalists prior to the event. Members that cannot attend the meeting can cast their vote prior to the meeting. The grant finalists will be determined by a Selection Committee.
